SO, AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS MAP, UH, THE CITY HAS A LOT OF MAJOR WATERWAYS, UM, WHERE IF YOU'RE NOT AWARE, A THIRD OF OUR CITY IS IN THE SPECIAL FLOOD HAZARD AREA OR FLOODPLAIN.
SO IT CREATES A LOT OF AREAS OF FLOODING AND THAT WE HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY WATCH OUR CURRENT FLOOD WARNING SYSTEM.
UM, WE USE REALTIME FLOOD MONITORING SYSTEM THROUGH CONTRAIL ONE RAIN.
UH, THE SYSTEM TRACKS THE RAINFALL, FLOOD LEVELS, AND, UM, FLOOD POTENTIAL.
IT IS INTEGRATED WITH CASA RADAR, WHICH PROVIDES ADDITIONAL WEATHER DATA.
OUR CURRENT FLOOD WARNING SYSTEM CONSISTS OF 23 OWNED AND OPERATED GRAND PRAIRIE GAUGES.
WE HAVE FLOODGATES AT TWO LOCATIONS ON CARRIER AND THIRD AT COTTONWOOD CREEK, BOTH OF 'EM ON COTTONWOOD CREEK.
UH, WE HAVE THREE FLOOD SIRENS IN THE CITY.
THE US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS HAS ONE GAUGE AT JOE POOL LAKE, AND THE US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY HAS FOUR LOCATIONS WITHIN THE CITY.

WE ALSO HAVE FLOOD FLASHERS IN FOUR DIFFERENT LOCATIONS TO WARN THE MOTORISTS OF ANY OVERTOP AND OF ROADWAYS.AND THEN WE ALSO, IN OUR SYSTEM IS INTEGRATED 10 OWNED AND OPERATED CITY OF ARLINGTON, UH, FLOOD GAUGES THAT ARE INCORPORATED IN OUR SYSTEM SINCE THEY ARE UPSTREAM OF US.
SO WE GET ADVANCED WARNING OF ANY FLOOD CONDITIONS.

EACH OF THESE FLOOD WARNING SIRENS IS A VERBAL SIREN, WHICH IS DIFFERENT THAN OUR TYPICAL OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN FOR TORNADOES AND HAIL AND HIGH WIND.
THAT'S ONE SOUND THAT JUST GOES ROUND AND ROUND.

IF WE WERE ON YEARLY APPRAISALS, MOST HOMEOWNERS WOULD'VE SEEN THE BENEFIT OF REDUCED HOME VALUE, NEVERMIND THE ANXIETY CAUSE OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS ABOUT POSSIBLY FAILING THE PROPERTY VALUE STUDY.
