GRAND PRAIRIE HAS A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF ITS CITY IN TARRANT COUNTY. GRAND PRAIRIE PAYS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TAX TO TARRANT COUNTY IN THE TARRANT COUNTY SECTION OF GRAND PRAIRIE. IF THE TARRANT COUNTY COMMISSIONER'S COURT HAD NEW OR UPDATED CENSUS DATA THAT SHOWED THAT THE DISTRICTS HAD BEEN UNBALANCED. THERE MAY BE AN ARGUMENT FOR A REBALANCING OF THE DISTRICT'S MID DECADE. HOWEVER, FROM WHAT HAS BEEN PRESENTED BY THE COURT AND PROPOSED BY THE COURT, IT SEEMS THAT WE'RE POTENTIALLY WITNESSING A PACKING OF THE PLURALITY OR MAJORITY MINORITY COMMUNITIES OF TARRANT COUNTY INTO ONE DISTRICT WHICH WOULD MINIMIZE AND DECREASE THEIR ABILITIES OF ELECTING A COMMISSIONER OF THEIR CHOICE. THE TARRANT COUNTY, UH, TARRANT COUNTY GRAND PRAIRIE RESIDENTS LAST VOTED TO ELECT A COMMISSIONER IN 2022 AND ARE SLATED TO ELECT THEIR NEXT COMMISSIONER OR REELECT THEIR COMMISSIONER IN 2026. HOWEVER, SHOULD THESE LINES BE REDRAWN AND THESE MAPS BE PUT INTO PLACE, OUR RESIDENTS THAT LIVE ON THE GRAND PRAIRIE SIDE WOULD LOSE THE RIGHT TO VOTE FOR A COMMISSIONER OF THEIR CHOICE IN 2026 AND WOULD NOT HAVE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY UNTIL 2028. TO REITERATE THAT IMPORTANT POINT, IF THESE MAPS ARE PUT INTO PLACE, GRAND PRAIRIE RESIDENTS IN TARRANT COUNTY WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE FOR A COMMISSIONER OF THEIR CHOOSING FOR SIX YEARS. INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL FOUR YEARS GRAND PRAIRIE RESIDENTS, UM, OF TARRANT COUNTY LIVE ON THE MOST EASTERN PORTION OF THE COUNTY AND WILL BE PACKED INTO A DISTRICT WITH FORT WORTH RESIDENTS WHO LIVE ON THE MOST WESTERN PORTION OF TARRANT COUNTY. AND THE PORTIONS OF THIS PROPOSED DISTRICT OR [01:00:01] PRECINCT AS THEY CALL IT, ARE INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH THE SEGMENTS OF TARRAN COUNTY WITH THE HIGHEST CONCENTRATION OF MINORITY VOTERS. AND TAG BOARD DENIED IT MOST OF THE TIME IN THE LAST MEETING, THEY TABLE IT UNTIL AUGUST, UH, THEIR AUGUST MEETING. AND I RAISED THIS QUESTION, WHY TARRANT COUNTY ASKING TO THE FORGIVENESS FROM APPRAISAL DISTRICT? YOU KNOW, IF YOU AS AN ELECTED OFFICIAL DELINQUENT IN YOUR TAXES, PROBABLY YOU'RE NOT ELIGIBLE TO SIT DOWN HERE. UH, SAME WITH THE TAD BOARD APPOINTEES OR ELECTED BOARD MEMBERS. THAT'S SIMILAR WITH THE TAX ASSESSOR COLLECTOR AND HOW MANY TIMES TAX ASSESSOR COLLECTOR WAIVED PENALTY AND INTEREST FOR RESIDENTS. THIS NEW TAX ASSESSOR COLLECTOR NEVER DID FOR, FOR THE LAST FIVE MONTHS. BUT IN EVERY MEETING THAT THING WAS ON THE AGENDA TO PLEASE WAIVE 11,000 FROM TARRANT COUNTY. I DON'T KNOW WHY.
