MY NAME'S TODD SIMMONS, AND I CURRENTLY SERVE ON THE ADVISORY BOARD AT, UH, METHODIST, MANSFIELD MEDICAL CENTER.

I'M ALSO THE CHAIR OF THE NEURO ICU CAPITAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE.

OUR TEAM IS HERE TODAY TO PROVIDE YOU WITH AN UPDATE ABOUT MANSFIELD, UH, METHODIST MANSFIELD, UH, PRESENT TODAY WE HAVE JUAN FRESQUEZ.

HE'S THE PRESIDENT OF OUR MEDICAL CENTER, UH, RANDALL KENNEDY.

KENNEDY IS THE BOARD CHAIR FOR THE METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM.

UH, CHIEF ROBERT FIGHT IS HERE.

Y'ALL KNOW HIM.

AND HE IS ON OUR, UH, ADVISORY BOARD.

GREG GEISER IS ALSO HERE.

UH, HE'S PART OF OUR, UH, METHODIST DANCE FIELD BOARD AND ALSO A MEMBER OF THE NEURO ICU CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE.

AND I BELIEVE, AND ALSO WE HAVE AUBREY ZAGO.

SHE'S HERE REPRESENTING OUR FOUNDATION AND SHE'S A SHORT TIMER.

SO I'M NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT THAT.

, I TOLD HER I HADN'T CRIED YET, BUT I CAN'T MAKE ANY PROMISES TODAY.

YOU'LL HEAR FROM HEAR FROM RANDALL AND JUAN ABOUT SOME OF THE GREAT THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING AT METHODIST MANSFIELD AND HOW OUR MEDICAL CENTER SERVE THE CONSTITUENTS OF GRAND PRAIRIE, AS WELL AS MANSFIELD AND ARLINGTON.

WE DO HAVE THREE OBJECTIVES TODAY, NUMBER ONE, TO UPDATE YOU ON HOSPITAL PERFORMANCE.

NUMBER TWO, TO SHARE HOW WE SERVE GRAND PRAIRIE.

AND NUMBER THREE, PROVIDE SOME FUTURE PLANS AND HOW WE'RE, UH, INVESTING TO EXPAND OUR SERVICES TO GRAND PRAIRIE.

BUT BEFORE RANDALL COMES UP, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE AND THANK THE GRAND PRAIRIE QUALITY OF LIFE FOUNDATION FOR A VERY, VERY GENEROUS DONATION TO THE NEURO ICU CAMPAIGN IN HONOR OF FORMER GRAND PRAIRIE COUNCIL MEMBER JIM SWER.

WE REMEMBER ALL THE JIM DID FOR METHODIST AND HIS SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS HERE AS WELL.

RANDALL, OUR METHODIST, UH, SYSTEM BOARD CHAIR, IS GONNA COME UP NOW AND PROVIDE AN UPDATE.

AND AGAIN, MAYOR, MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL, WE ARE SO PLEASED TO BE HERE TODAY TO, WE'RE SO PROUD OF WHAT METHODIST, MANSFIELD AND METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM, UH, IS DOING IN OUR NORTH TEXAS COMMUNITY.

SO I WANTED TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE INTRODUCTION OF BOTH OF THOSE INITIATIVES.

AND I'M GLAD HE MENTIONED JIM SWAFFORD BECAUSE I'M A FORMER BANKER AND I KNEW JIM SWAFFORD FOR PROBABLY 40 YEARS.

AND I WOULD NOT BE INVOLVED WITH METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR JIM SWOFFORD.

HE IDENTIFIED ME AS SOMEONE TO ORGANIZE THE ORIGINAL ADVISORY BOARD CHAIR WHEN WE WERE, UH, DECIDING TO BUILD METHODIST MANSFIELD.

AND I OWE A GREAT, GREAT DEBT OF GRATITUDE TO THE GREAT JIM SWOFFORD.

I WANTED TO TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT METHODIST MANSFIELD, AND EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, I HOPE YOU'RE NOT CONFUSED 'CAUSE I'LL INTERSPERSE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM, WHICH I'M PROUD TO REPRESENT.

ITS CURRENT BOARD CHAIR, AND I HAVE BEEN ON THAT BOARD FOR 15 YEARS NOW.

IT IS DEEPLY, DEEPLY WITHIN MY HEART.

UH, METHODIST MANSFIELD WAS BUILT IN 2006.

IT'S A 294 BED ACUTE CARE HOSPITAL.

WE HAVE OVER 1300 NURSES AND STAFF IN THAT HOSPITAL.

WE HAVE 450 INDEPENDENTLY PRACTICING PHYSICIANS.

WE HAVE 100,000 OUTPATIENT VISITS ANNUALLY.

AND INCREASING IS ONE WE'LL SHARE WITH YOU IN JUST A FEW MINUTES.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, AS A NONPROFIT HOSPITAL WHOSE MISSION IS TO SERVE THE SOUTHERN SECTOR OF DALLAS FOR, FOR YOUR, UH, INFORMATION.

METHODIST DALLAS, LOCATED ON, UH, BECKLEY AVENUE IN DALLAS IS THE WHOLE OLDEST HOSPITAL IN DALLAS.

IN TWO YEARS, WE'LL CELEBRATE OUR 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SERVING THE CITIZENS OF DALLAS.

AND BECAUSE OF OUR UNIQUE LOCATION, WE

ARE COMMITTED BY OUR MISSION TO SERVE THE SOUTHERN SECTOR OF DALLAS WITH OUR TWO PRIMARY HOSPITALS, WHICH ARE METHODIST, DALLAS MEDICAL CENTER AND METHODIST CHARLESTON MEDICAL CENTER.

IN 2006, WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF METHODIST MANSFIELD, WE BEGAN BUILDING COMMUNITY HOSPITALS AND NOW HAVE SIX COMMUNITY HOSPITALS WITH A SEVENTH UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN SALINA THAT WILL BE OPEN IN THE SPRING OF 2025.

AND AGAIN, OUR MISSION IS FAITH-BASED.

WE'RE NOT JUST A NAME ON THE BUILDING.

WE DEEPLY BELIEVE THAT WE ARE GOD ORDAINED TO SERVE THE LEAST IN THE LOSS WITH QUALITY HEALTHCARE.

BUT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE MOST PROUD ABOUT TO SERVE THAT SEGMENT OF SOUTH DALLAS IS WE HAVE DEVELOPED WHAT'S KNOWN AS THE METHODIST COLLABORATIVE.

AND THAT WAS DEVELOPED BY METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM.

AND WE PARTNER WITH NONPROFITS IN THE SOUTHERN SECTOR OF DALLAS, WHICH INCLUDES EAST GRAND PRAIRIE TO PROVIDE, UH, QUALITY HEALTHCARE AFFORDABLY TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS.

AND WITH THAT BEING SAID, METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM IN 2023 PROVIDED $154 MILLION IN CHARITY CARE THROUGHOUT OUR SYSTEM, WITH $19 MILLION OF THAT DESIGNATED AT METHODIST MANSFIELD MEDICAL CENTER.

EVERY ONE OF OUR LOCATIONS, BE IT A COMMUNITY OR WHETHER IT'S ONE OF OUR HOSPITALS IN DALLAS OR OR AT CHARLTON, HAS IN THEIR SERVICE AREAS, THOSE THAT CANNOT AFFORD QUALITY HEALTHCARE.

AND WE ARE COMMITTED TO SERVING THE NEEDS OF THAT COMMUNITY.

METHODIST MANSFIELD IS A LEVEL THREE ADVANCED TRAUMA CENTER.

IT'S A LEVEL THREE NEONATAL AND MATERNAL, UH, SUBSPECIALTY CARE FACILITY.

AND WE HAVE ACHIEVED MAGNET DESIGNATION, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST DESIGNATION FOR NURSING CARE.

AND WE'RE JUST RECERTIFIED LAST YEAR FOR THAT DESIGNATION.

AND THEY'RE NOT A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF HOSPITALS IN THE UNITED STATES THAT HAVE MAGNET DESIGNATION FOR THEIR NURSING STAFF, BUT EVERY ONE OF OUR HOSPITALS THAT QUALIFIES.

AND BY QUALIFIES, YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST THREE YEARS OF DATA TO EVEN, UH, TO EVEN APPLY FOR MAGNET DESIGNATION.

BUT EVERY ONE OF OUR HOSPITALS, FIVE OF WHICH QUALIFY, ARE ALL MAGNET DESIGNATED HOSPITALS.

THAT'S THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF NURSING CARE.

WE HAVE THE GOLD, THE JOINT COMMISSION, GOLD SEAL OF APPROVAL AS AN ADVANCED PRIMARY STROKE CENTER, SOMETHING WE'RE VERY, VERY PROUD OF.

AND METHODIST MANSFIELD HAS A, A STROKE, UH, DESIGNATION THAT JUAN WILL SHARE WITH YOU AS WELL.

WE'RE VERY, VERY COMMITTED TO OUR QUALITY.

UH, WE HAVE A QUALITY COMMITTEE ONCE A MONTH, WHICH DELVES INTO ALL OF THE QUALITY METRICS THAT MAKE US THE LEVEL OF HOSPITAL THAT WE ARE.

I HAVE A NUMBER OF, OF, UH, RECOGNITIONS THAT METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM AND METHODIST MANSFIELD HAVE ACHIEVED OVER THE LAST NUMBER OF YEARS.

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE IS THAT, UH, PRESS GANEY, WHICH IS AN AUDIT FIRM THAT AUDITS HEALTH CARE THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY, JUST LAST YEAR, DESIGNATED METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM, IS THE NUMBER ONE HOSPITAL SYSTEM IN THE UNITED STATES.

IT'S SOMETHING WE ARE VERY, VERY PROUD OF, AND WE ARE VERY THANKFUL, UH, THAT WE HAVE SERVED THIS COMMUNITY AND SOUTHEAST TARRANT COUNTY AND SOUTHWEST DALLAS COUNTY AS EFFECTIVELY AS WE HAVE SINCE 2006.

AT THIS TIME, I'LL TURN IT OVER TO JUAN FRE, THE PRESIDENT OF METHODIST MANSFIELD MEDICAL CENTER.

UH, I'M VERY EXCITED TO SHARE, UH, SOME OF THE, THE IMPORTANT METRICS THAT WE HAVE SUPPORTING GRAND PRAIRIE.

WE ARE GRAND PRAIRIE'S HOSPITAL.

UH, 656 OF OUR EMPLOYEES IN METHODIST ARE GRAND PRAIRIE RESIDENTS.

OF THAT 656, THAT REPRESENTS $51.8 MILLION OF SALARIES, WAGES, AND BENEFITS COMING IN, COMING TO TO GRAND PRAIRIE.

UH, 11% OF OUR, UH, HOSPITAL INPATIENT CASES COME FROM, FROM, UH, FROM GRAND PRAIRIES, UH, TWO ZIP CODES, UH, THE 7 5 0 5 2, AND THE 7 5 0 5 4 THAT METH METHODIST SERVES.

UM, IT, IT, THERE'S A A GREAT DEAL OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT THAT WE DO, UH, FOR THE COMMUNITY, FOR THE CITIZENS HERE IN, IN, UH, IN GRAND PRAIRIE FIVE, UM, NOT THE LEAST OF WHICH IS ALL THE WORK THAT WE DO WITH GRAND PRAIRIE, ISD, THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION, THE STUDENT PHYSICALS, THE ATHLETIC PHYSICALS FOR THE BAND MEMBERS, AND ALL THE STUDENT ATHLETES.

UH, IT'S A BIG PART OF OUR SPORTS MEDICINE PROGRAM, UH, THAT METHODIST PROVIDES TO THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE, NOT JUST IN MANSFIELD, BUT GRAND PRAIRIE, UH, SOUTH ARLINGTON, UH, AND, AND ALSO IN MIDLOTHIAN NOW AND IN KENVILLE.

UM, BUT, YOU KNOW, TODAY I WANTED TO FOCUS A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE, UH, THE PARTNERSHIP THAT WE HAVE, UH,

WITH GRAND PRAIRIE ISD.

IT'S, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO US AND IT, IT HELPS US STRENGTHEN THE SPORTS MEDICINE PROGRAM THAT WE HAVE JUST A FEW MINUTES TO TALK ABOUT SOME OF OUR EXPANDED SERVICES.

RANDALL MENTIONED THAT WE'RE CURRENTLY A LEVEL THREE TRAUMA CENTER.

UH, THAT'S GOING TO CHANGE NEXT MONTH.

WE'LL ACTUALLY BE GOING INTO LEVEL TWO.

AND WHAT LEVEL TWO IS, IS ACTUALLY THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEVEL ONE AND LEVEL TWO IS CLINICALLY THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE, UH, BETWEEN A LEVEL ONE AND LEVEL TWO IS THAT LEVEL ONE HAS, UH, MEDICAL STUDENT RESIDENTS AND LEVEL ONE HAS RESEARCH, BUT WE ALREADY DO A GREAT DEAL OF RESEARCH AT METHODIST.

SO WE CHECKED THAT BOX, BUT WE DON'T HAVE RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS.

UH, AND ALL OF OUR TRAUMA SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED BY ATTENDING TRAUMA SURGEONS, NOT RESIDENT TRAUMA SURGEONS.

AND SO I ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE LEVEL TWO, UH, I, I'D RATHER HAVE AN ATTENDING THAN A THAN A RESIDENT, BUT I MEAN, THAT'S JUST MY OPINION.

UM, BUT LEVEL TWO, WE WILL ACTUALLY BE TAKING, UH, TAKING CARE OF PATIENTS.

THERE WILL BE NO REASON FOR PATIENTS TO LEAVE OUR SERVICE AREA ANY LONGER TO GO TO THE LARGER FACILITIES.

WE WILL BE THAT FACILITY, UH, IN THE SOUTH PART OF THE METROPLEX.

SO WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO BE ABLE TO SERVE.

ADDITIONALLY, TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN, WE EXPANDED OUR TRAUMA, OUR NEUROTRAUMA SERVICE, AND WE NOW RECENTLY OPENED A 32 BED TRAUMA ICU, UH, FOR NEUROSURGICAL PATIENTS, UH, SPECIALIZES IN STROKE CARE, UH, TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES, AND, UH, POSTOPERATIVE NEUROSURGERY.

UH, THAT UNIT IS CURRENTLY FULL.

AND, UH, AND I'M VERY EXCITED, UH, THANKFUL THAT OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH CHIEF FI, WHO HAS, UH, BEEN INSTRUMENTAL ON THE ADVISORY BOARD AND ADVISING US OF WHAT THE COMMUNITY NEEDS IN GRAND PRAIRIE AND WHAT OUR CITIZENS NEED, UH, HAVING, UH, GRAND PRAIRIE, UH, REPRESENTATION ON OUR BOARD IS A BIG HELP BECAUSE IT MAKES SURE THAT WE TAKE CARE OF THE CITIZENS AND ALL OF THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE.

UM, WE HAVE A QUICK VIDEO I THINK THAT WANTED TO SHOW, OKAY, MY GOAL WITH, YOU KNOW, BEING THE NEUROSURGEON HERE WITH, YOU KNOW, MY, MY OTHER PARTNERS COVERING IS, YOU KNOW, WE KEEP EVERYTHING HERE.

WE BUILD THIS PARTICULAR NEUROSCIENCE PROGRAM TO, WE ARE BASICALLY A, A BEACON AND A AND A AND A PLACE WHERE, WHERE EVERYONE IN, IN THE SOUTHERN SECTORS COME FROM.

SOMETIMES DR.

KATZEN WOULD GET A LARGE HEAD BLEED, UH, AND WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT THAT PATIENT AND SAY, OKAY, THEY'VE GOTTA COME TO METHODIST, DALLAS.

UH, AND THEN THEY GET TO METHOD ASTELLA.

THESE ARE OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO COME TO US FOR CARE, AND THEY GET TO DALLAS AND THEIR BLEED IS SO BAD THAT THERE IS NO INTERVENTION THAT IS POSSIBLE FOR THAT PATIENT.

SO THAT PATIENT HAS COME TO METHODIST, MANSFIELD FOR CARE HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED TO DALLAS, ONLY FOR THE FAMILY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE'S NOT REALLY ANYTHING THAT WE'RE ABLE TO DO.

SO PART OF EVEN JUST STARTING OUR GROWTH OF THIS PROGRAM WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW CAN WE BEST TREAT THESE PATIENTS HERE, UH, OR PROVIDE SERVICES THAT CAN HELP TO KEEP THESE PATIENTS HERE IN THEIR BACKYARD, UH, WHERE THEIR FAMILIES CAN EASILY COME AND SEE THEM.

FROM THE SURGERY STANDPOINT, WE DO EVERYTHING FROM NEUROTRAUMA.

SO THAT'S CRANIOTOMIES FOR, YOU KNOW, BIG BRAIN BLEEDS, SUBDURALS STROKES, INFECTIONS, ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF.

UH, WE'RE ALREADY KEEPING HERE.

UM, AND WE HAVE ALL THE SUPPORTING TEAMS TO KIND OF BACK IT UP AS WELL.

UM, GETTING NEUROCRITICAL CARE INVOLVED AS WELL.

THAT'S KIND OF, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE LAST PIECES OF THE PIE THAT THAT'S ALREADY BEING DONE TOO.

SINCE 2021, 60% OF ALL OF OUR ED PATIENTS WERE TREATED FOR STROKES, TRAUMATIC INJURIES, CRANIAL OR NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES IN THEIR COMPLICATIONS.

UM, SO THAT IS A, A HUGELY IMPACTFUL NUMBER, UM, THAT IS DRIVING THE PRO THIS, UH, PROGRAM FORWARD.

WITH THE BENEFIT OF THIS NEW UNIT.

IT MEANS INSTEAD OF ONLY EIGHT BEDS LIKE WE HAVE RIGHT NOW, WE WOULD GET 32 BEDS.

WE HAVE ALSO BEEN WORKING ON OUR, UH, JOURNEY TO TRAUMA LEVEL TWO.

AND SO THOSE, UH, THE, THE JOURNEY FOR TRAUMA AND THE JOURNEY FOR, UH, NEURO SERVICES, UH, ARE IN A LOT OF WAYS INTERSECTED, UM, BECAUSE OF THE INTERDISCIPLINARY TEAMS THAT WE ARE HAVING TO PROVIDE FOR BOTH SERVICE LINES.

UM, SO WE ARE, UH, INCLUDING OBVIOUSLY NEUROSURGERY, ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY, ANESTHESIOLOGY, EMERGENCY MEDICINE, RADIOLOGY, AND CRITICAL CARE.

I LOAD IT OUT HERE.

MY, UH, CLINIC VIEW IS, IS A BUNCH OF COWS IN A, A BIG FIELD AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT.

SO EXCITED TO BE NOW, UH, A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL ON A JOURNEY TOWARD LEVEL TWO TRIAL AS A CITY.

WE ARE BLESSED AND WE'RE SO THANKFUL TO HAVE METHODIST MANSFIELD HERE TODAY.

LIVES WILL DEFINITELY BE SAVED.

THE, THE ONE, THE PATIENTS THAT COME TO OUR TRAUMA CENTER NOW, THE ONLY TIME THEY'RE GONNA BE LEAVING WILL BE FOR BURNS, WHICH ALL BURNS GO TO PARKLAND AND METROPLEX FOR PEDIATRICS, WHICH IT WILL GO TO ONE OF THE PEDIATRIC HOSPITALS AND FOR TRANSPLANTS.

SO EVERYTHING ELSE WILL STAY IN OUR SERVICE AREA CLOSE TO HOME.

UH, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO FORT WORTH.

THEY DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO DALLAS FOR, FOR TRAUMA CARE.

THIS HAS BEEN A BIG IMPROVEMENT AND IT'S WHAT OUR COMMUNITY NEEDED AS WE GREW.

UH, WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE OUR GROWTH SUPPORTED THE GROWTH AND THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY.

AND I WANNA THANK YOU.

ANOTHER, UH, A RECOGNITION.

JIM WAS A FRIEND OF MINE, A CLOSE FRIEND, UH, WHEN I ARRIVED TO METHODIST.

AND UH, UH, YOU KNOW, I WAS, I WAS HAPPY TO KNOW HE, HE AND HIS WIFE JUDY, AND YOU KNOW, THEY HAD A GREAT IMPACT ON, ON THE HOSPITAL THAT WE HAVE TODAY.

SO AS ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE HOSPITAL, UH, WE'RE JUST DELIGHTED THAT, UH, THE NEURO ICU, UH, CONFERENCE ROOM IS GONNA BE NAMED IN HIS HONOR.

I'D LIKE TO ADD SOMETHING, HAVE CHIEF BY SAY OF YOU WERE, TO ME, THIS IS SIGNIFICANT.

OUR POLICY IS THE CLOSEST, MOST APPROPRIATE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW FOR TRAUMA.

SO WHAT ELSE IS DONE WITH THE REMAINING FUNDS FOR THE YEAR? EVERY YEAR, THE ALLEY MAINTENANCE IS ABOUT 600 TO $650,000.
