AND I'M HERE, UH, TO TALK ABOUT THE BIG EVENT, UM, OUR ONE DAY CDY EVENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICE, UM, A NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS EVENT.

THIS YEAR IS OUR SEVENTH YEAR OF THE BIG EVENT.

UM, AND IT WILL TAKE PLACE, UM, SATURDAY, MARCH 23RD FROM 8:00 AM TO 1:00 PM.

UH, THE KICKOFF OF THE EVENT WILL BE, UH, IN THE OOPS PARKING LOT OF THE SOUTH GRAHAM PRAIRIE HIGH SCHOOL AT 8:00 AM WHERE VOLUNTEERS CAN ENJOY SOME SNACKS AND DRINKS BEFORE HEADING TO THE JOBS.

UH, IN 2023, WE EXCEEDED A TOTAL OF 1,643 VOLUNTEERS, UM, AND HAD 110 JOBS COMPLETED COLLECTING A TOTAL OF 63 TONS OF TRASH.

OUR GOALS FOR, UM, 2024 ARE TO HAVE A TOTAL OF A THOUSAND VOLUNTEERS PLUS, UH, TO COMPLETE A HUNDRED JOBS AND TO COLLECT 60 THOUSANDS OF TRASH.

OF COURSE, ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.

IN THE 1970S, SIGNIFICANT TO THIS PROPERTY, THE CITY OPENED A, A LANDFILL AND, UH, THAT LANDFILL FILLED UP EVENTUALLY AND WAS CLOSED IN 1977.

UM, SINCE 1977.

UH, THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COST OF REMOVING AND ENVIRONMENTALLY CLEANING THE AREA, REMOVING THE DEBRIS AND CLEANING THE AREA, JUST MADE IT NOT FEASIBLE FOR DEVELOPMENT.

BUT THIS PROSPECT OF THIS PARKING, UH, FOR TRUCKS AND TRAILERS IS A, A, AN ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE, UH, DEVELOPMENT.

SO, UH, THE REQUESTED SUP IF APPROVED, UH, WILL DO SEVERAL THINGS FOR US, BUT IT, IT GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECLAIM THIS FORGOTTEN 14 ACRE TRACT, UH, TO IMPROVE THE AESTHETIC APPEARANCE OF THE AREA, AND REALLY SIGNIFICANTLY TO, UH, SERVICE THE NEEDS OF, OF THE WAREHOUSE, UH, UH, DEVELOPMENTS THAT, THAT DOMINATE THE AREA, OUR SUPPLY CHAIN REQUIRE, UH, REQUIRES TRUCKS AND, AND, UH, MOVEMENT OF GOODS TO AND FROM THOSE, UH, WAREHOUSES.

SO THEY MOVED IT, I BELIEVE, TO MACARTHUR.

UM, SO LAST YEAR WE TOOK THE TIME AND WE GOT TCEQ APPROVAL TO DO, TO DISTURB THE FINAL COVER AND DO SOME TEST PITS OUT THERE.

UM, GENERAL DEPTH OF THE TRASH CAN RANGE FROM STARTING AT ONE FOOT DOWN TO AS DEEP AS THE EXCAVATOR COULD GO, WHICH IS 22 FEET.
